Social venturing entrepreneurschip

Of course, we are very proud of our certifications for GOTS, Oeko-Tex, and recently also BCI for sustainably grown cotton. We want to set an example in the market and promote sustainability both globally and locally. Not only when it comes to our sustainable products and ecological impact, but also the responsibility we have towards the community and our people.

A solid foundation in sustainability

As of 2019, we are the proud owner of a state-of-the-art company building in Oss. This sustainable building is our base and is highly insulated and fully equipped with LED lighting. The wood used in the building has the FSC quality mark and nine heat pumps contribute to a pleasant working environment. Thanks to 3,124 solar panels, we are not only self-sufficient, but Verhees Textiles also supplies green energy to 150 surrounding households. There are also many other initiatives that we support, such as not using disposable plastic any more, separating our waste in a sustainable way and recycling tubes and plastic hangers for our samples.

CO₂-neutral delivery within Europe!

Every day, we ship many packages with fabrics to our customers all over Europe. With our partner DPD, we ensure that our fabrics are delivered in a CO₂-neutral way. This is done by reducing and compensating the CO₂ emissions. But there is a bigger goal: in 2025 DPD will deliver emission-free in the 225 largest cities in Europe, including the 45 largest cities in the Netherlands. In total DPD will deploy 7,000 electric vehicles in Europe, and even more than 400 electric vehicles in the Netherlands. You can think of electric buses, Tripls (e-scooters) and bicycles. DPD wants to be the greenest parcel delivery company of Europe, without extra costs for our customers. We can only applaud that!

Initiatives

The collaboration with Rita Bode is at least as sympathetic and worth mentioning. She makes so-called "Listening Mice" for sick children. Whereas these little listening mice were originally made of wool, nowadays Rita collects scraps from Verhees in Oss every month free of charge to make new little listening mice from them. In the meantime, over 2500 little mice in all shapes and colours have been given to sick children. A wonderful initiative that is also good for the environment, because less fabric ends up in the bin!

Development and relaxation

We believe that employing motivated and professional staff is the key to success. That is why we are constantly looking for growth and development opportunities for our colleagues. This ensures that our employees are always up to date and vital. Whether it is a Detex textile course, a language course or a personal development training. Verhees Textiles is involved. This way we can pass on our acquired knowledge to you! Equally important is a good balance. In our canteen there is always fresh fruit and freshly ground coffee ready and you can enjoy the sun on the roof terrace. In addition, competitiveness is regularly tested on our darts court, pool table and table football.

Social employer and accredited training company

As a fabric importer, we are very proud that we are also able to offer work to people with a disadvantage on the labour market. With a little extra dedication and hard work, we have not only gained fantastic employees who complement our company, but we also offer them the opportunity to gain experience and develop their skills.

We also provide traineeships in various departments, for example in our sales, design and ICT departments. As a licensed training company, our staff will be happy to show you the ropes of the trade.
